Increase your productivity by following our simple tips!

There’s no better time to give your workspace some attention. We recommend you start by clearing the clutter! If you can’t see your desk over piles of paper and half-filled coffee cups, then it’s time to take action. Bin or file every item, keeping only the most frequently used or relevant papers on your desk. It’s easy to build up the superfluous at work. Too many personal items can clog up your space. Limit yourself to one or two objects that are visually pleasing and ditch the rest.

Allocate time for a clean-up regularly and put it in your diary. You may begrudge the time this takes, but when you consider how much more productive you will be as a result, it makes perfect sense.

Is your desk in the best spot? It’s not always possible to move your desk around, but consider what might be a better option. Are you getting a bit of natural light, are you far enough away from the staff kitchen or other high traffic areas? If you have your own office, could you work better if your desk was in a different position within that room?

Check your ergonomics. Standing desks are all the rage now – have you considered this option? If you would rather sit, think about how well your chair supports your back.
Keep the essentials at your fingertips. Items such as note paper, pens and post-its should always be within arm’s reach, and in good supply.

Get green. An indoor plant will not only add a peaceful feel to your workspace, but the plant will actually work hard to give you cleaner and fresher air to breathe.

Re-think your filing system. Is it working for you? If not, take the time to reorganise and adopt a system that suits your needs. It doesn’t have to be alphabetical, there are numerous ways to file. Adopt the one that works best for you.

Hide the cables. They are completely essential, but when on display they make for a messy and chaotic workspace. Use cable ties and go wireless wherever possible.

At the end of the day, aim to leave your desk in a tidy state. Coming in to work each morning to a clean and ordered space will set you on a positive and productive path for the day ahead.
