Small Business Solutions has helped many South Side businesses take their business to the next level, and yours could be next!
Designed to enhance the business skills, profitability and growth of small businesses, Small Business Solutions provides owners and managers the opportunity to get real business assistance – in finance, planning, marketing and management – from accredited industry professionals.
The program runs via a series of workshops and one-on-one mentoring, all going through the fundamentals of growing a business, teaching participants how to optimise their work flow and helping them improve their overall marketing.
We spoke to two recent workshop participants to get their take on the program and how it helped their businesses.
Lisa Blumears, who is in the process of designing a smoke extraction system with her husband, completed the workshop with Small Business Solutions last December. She says the workshop had many benefits.
“Although I came from a managerial background, I had no idea how to get a business off the ground,” she says.
“I found it (the workshop) extremely beneficial and I felt myself growing with real knowledge that I can use at set-up stage, day to day and throughout our business life.”
“The benefits included gaining an understanding around marketing and your market, gave us practical programs to use and learning about the importance of an effective business plan.”
Lisa says the content was delivered very professionally, including both information and practical applications.
“We were frequently asked if we understood and if I needed any further clarification. The training was presented well giving the ability to ask questions without feeling stupid,” she says.
Lisa says there is a lot more to know then just having an idea and selling it.
“We are still in the process of setup and early stages, so I am definitely using every piece relevant so far and it has given our business the direction that was needed.”
“I would recommend these workshops to anyone starting their own business, in operation, or long term standing small business. Given the information supplied, it allows you to look deeper into the areas of people, pricing and processes.
Another happy workshop participant is Naturopath and Real Estate Agent, Robyn Ehmen who completed the workshop in January.
“There were a few reasons why I signed up for the workshop. I’ve been a Naturopath for 23 years and I wanted to update my marketing skills. I also have qualifications in Real Estate and just sold my first house, so I want to develop that side of things more too,” she says.
“The workshop really made me realise how much I need to revise my marketing plan and take it much more seriously.”
Robyn says marketing is essential to running a business and making it profitable.
“Rudi (workshop convenor) has really made marketing easy and set me on track, so it isn’t so overwhelming. He provided steps for me to follow and they’re great.”
“I learnt all about good networking too, I’ve already got an appointment to share a premise in Bulimba, which is a real gift.”
Robyn says marketing evolves so quickly, so you really need to keep up with it all.
So, you’ve heard from two happy customers, now it’s your turn to take your business to the next level!
The next workshops will be held in May, but you’ve got to get in quick!
